We Did A “Reporting Rights Violations” Training with the 17 Mayıs Association

On May 23, with the support of 17 Mayıs Association, we received Rights Violations Reporting Training from Kaos GL, conducted by Defne Güzel.

In the training we received, Defne emphasized the importance of acting by addressing the advantages and disadvantages of working locally. Defne explained how Aydın LGBTİ+ Solidarity could do reporting by giving examples from the process of preparing and publishing the report they conducted with the Özgün Renkler Association. They mentioned that the reporting to be made due to the inadequacy of human and material capacities in the organizations working locally has the risk of putting more burden on a few people, but that this risk is considered, and the report is based on the work from the beginning and it disappears when the work divisions are made. They said that since the announcement of the reporting works is also a shift, it would be beneficial to carry out a detailed study and campaign this announcement.

Defne also said that it would be more beneficial to conduct the reporting study on specific issues in organizations that are developing their structures such as Aydın LGBTİ+ Solidarity, that the data obtained can attract more attention from the public, so that the reporting of rights violations to be made will achieve its purpose more.
